The short story? “Yes” is the answer
What is the question? “Will my auto insurance company be offering a discount/refund/rebate due to the coronavirus pandemic?”
Automobile insurance carriers across the country recognize that people are driving less frequently while social distancing measures are in place, and they are responding. If you have auto insurance from ACE/Chubb, Hanover, Safety, or Travelers, yes, you will receive a discount on your auto insurance.
- ACE/Chubb. In addition to a 35% discount for April and May premiums, applied upon renewal, Chubb has made a $10MM commitment to supporting global pandemic relief efforts.
- Hanover. In addition to boosting coverage features for businesses and individuals impacted by the pandemic, Hanover is automatically returning 15% of April and May auto premiums to personal insurance clients; no action is needed on your part. They are also committing $500k to local pandemic relief efforts through the United Way & Boys & Girls Clubs in MA and MI, where they have corporate offices.
- Safety Insurance. The 15% Safety Personal Auto Relief Credit will apply to April and May premiums automatically, and if you’ve already paid in full, a refund will be issued.
- Travelers. A 15% credit will apply to April and May auto premiums. Separately, Travelers will continue to provide auto coverage for customers whose job now includes deliveries of food, grocery, pharmacy and medical supplies.
